Sculpture Show 2013
Fourteen exciting sculptures by artists from four states now have temporary homes in downtown Salisbury and on the campus of Rowan-Cabarrus Community College. The 2013 Salisbury Sculpture Show Discover What’s Outside runs April 5 through December 31, 2013.
Carefully selected from an open application process, the works represent a wide range of sculptural styles and materials. Each sculpture is placed in a site to best complement the piece and its setting.
The first stop on your tour is I-85 Exit 76 southbound ramp where Jim Gallucci’s Sunflower Gate II delights drivers arriving and leaving Salisbury. Then stop by the Visitors’ Center at 204 East Innes Street to pick up a brochure and begin your walking tour of eleven sculpture locations within historic Downtown Salisbury. The tour will be a delight to students of art and history alike. A short trip out to Rowan Cabarrus Community College will complete the tour with two additional sculptures located in the Student Services Building Upper Courtyard.
A number of exciting events are planned around the sculpture exhibit to entertain and educate residents and visitors during the 9-month exhibition. The Salisbury Public Art Committee invites visitors of all ages to enjoy the art and to participate in other related events over the coming months.
